EVENTS

Our signature “Café” formatted events create a safe space where participants can talk about issues that affect them over a free cup of coffee.

Reigniting the 17th century tradition of meeting in local coffee houses to discuss current affairs, the MLMS “Café” events are effective at listening to the voices of the young citizens, gathering their perspectives and priorities and thereby empowering them, plus demonstrating the power of dialogue and debate.

MLMS is incredibly proud that the majority of our Café events take place outside of London and with groups of young people that are predominantly from underrepresented communities.

As well as the Cafés acting as an important tool to empower young citizens to take up a more active role in democratic life, we have identified 21 different life development and employability skills ranging from leadership to critical thinking that a young person gains from participating at one of our Café events.
