Grants & Communications Lead
Scope of the job
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Grants and Communications Lead to drive fundraising and external engagement for our mission to empower young people to engage in politics and democracy. In this pivotal role, you will take the lead in securing vital funding through compelling grant applications and stakeholder relationships, ensuring the sustainability and growth of our impactful activities.
Alongside fundraising, you’ll design and implement a communications strategy that amplifies our mission, strengthens our brand, and fosters meaningful connections with stakeholders, funders, and the wider sector. Combining creativity with strategic insight, you will play a key role in advancing our vision, delivering impactful campaigns, and sharing stories that inspire action.

Key responsibilities
Grants and Fundraising

Identify potential funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and government bodies aligned with the charity's mission

Develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet revenue goals

Write and submit compelling grant applications and funding proposals

Manage relationships with funders and stakeholders, ensuring timely communication and updates

Collaborate with internal teams to gather content and data for funding proposals and reports

Prepare and submit accurate grant reports, detailing project progress, outcomes, and financial accountability

Maintain a grants calendar to track deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal opportunities

Research new funding streams, including corporate sponsorships or individual giving opportunities
External Communications

Develop and execute a communications strategy to promote the charity’s activities and successes

Liaise with our Social Media Lead to create engaging content for social media, newsletters, blogs, and press releases.

Act as the primary media contact and manage relationships with journalists and media outlets

Develop campaigns to raise awareness of the charity’s mission and increase public engagement

Build and nurture partnerships with external stakeholders, including NGOs, government bodies, and educational institutions

Represent the charity at events, networking opportunities, and public engagements

Advocate for the organization’s mission and objectives with key stakeholders and policymakers
Monitoring and Evaluation

Track and report on the outcomes of funded projects, ensuring alignment with funder expectations

Use data and case studies to demonstrate the charity’s impact in communications materials

Evaluate the success of communication campaigns

Work closely with the Engagement Team to understand the charity’s projects and ensure alignment with funder requirements

Collaborate with the Leadership Team to align fundraising and communications strategies with organizational goals
